In relation to animal farm, the way the advertisers gave me(the audience) a perception of the car is what the author of animal farm did in the beginning of Animal Farm. Furthermore, in animal the author used Old Major the old boar to perceive the animals. He perceived them by opening their eyes and widening their imagination to thinking that if they rebel against Mr. Jones then they will become rich and free and they can rule themselves. Old major added value by telling the animals that because now they were sold and believed they could do it and attempted to do and was able to. Moreover, this relates to the advertisement because once again they both (Old major and the advertisers) added one minor detail along with what was already known, and they were able to make it believable and "sell it" to the audience(the animals and the viewers).

Rory sutherland and animal farm connection
Media networks often portray commercials that are in some sort of way connected to the t.v. show being showed at the moment. In addition, the value displayed affects how we feel about the products and if we want to buy them or not. For example, A commercial on Fox will show a Chevrolet traverse and how great it is on gas, miles, it has satellite radio and etc. Of course that catches our attention, but a lot of us think "all new cars have these great features", which is true because that it where value is being added. The new 2012 Chevrolet Traverse is the same as last year, and the only reason why we think that everything is new is because they changed the year number, but they didn't change anything on the vehicle which shows addition of value because they made a minor change. Just like in the Rory Sutherland video, the cereal went from Shreddies to Diamond Shreddies only because they were changed to the position of looking like a diamond and people failed to realize. Although nothing changed, the company was still able to sell the product which is the same thing that happened with the car. Moreover, the company Chevrolet, adds value to make the car stand out in some sort of way, but that is where they get you because when you're watching the show the car and it's "new features and the great price" are on your mind.
